White Hat Entertainment Sells Third Film at Sundance Film Festival

Fort Wayne, March 15, 2017

THE HERO marks the third sale and theatrical release of an independent film - ROBOT AND FRANK (2012), INFINITELY POLAR BEAR (2014) - by White Hat Entertainment, an affiliate of Fort Wayne, IN based North River Capital.

THE HERO, starring Sam Elliott, Laura Prepon, Nick Offerman, Krysten Ritter and Katharine Ross, premiered in competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival January 21st in Park City, Utah where the North American rights were quickly acquired by film Distributor, The Orchard.

The film is directed by Brett Haley (I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS) and co-written by Haley and Marc Basch. The Orchard recently announced plans for a nation-wide Summer 2017 release on June 9th.

Lee Hayden (Sam Elliott) is a Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much   weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy.

The film was produced by Northern Lights Films, Park Pictures and Houston King Productions.  White Hat Entertainment was an executive producer on the film.

White Hat is sponsoring the opening night gala that will precede the screening of THE HERO in Fort Wayne, IN at the 2nd annual Hobnobben Film Festival June 15th through the 18th, 2017, with exact times to be announced via the festival.
